Hyatt Regency St. Louis at The Arch Hosts 7th Annual Over the Edge to benefit Special Olympics Missouri

~Participants rappel 17 stories to take fundraising to new heights for Special Olympics Missouri~

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

ST. LOUIS (May 27, 2015) – Hyatt Regency St. Louis at The Arch will host the seventh annual Over the Edge, sponsored by Special Olympics Missouri (SOMO), on October 3, 2015 in downtown St. Louis. Participants 14 years or older who choose to sign up for the event will raise money to rappel 17 stories from the rooftop of the property, overlooking the famous Gateway Arch, in support of the athletes and programs of the Special Olympics. This extreme, adrenaline-pumping experience will not only challenge participants to their own limits, but the proceeds raised will fund programs that allow more than 16,500 Special Olympic athletes to train, compete and enjoy a lifetime of their own thrills.

Limited to 160 participants, each individual must raise a minimum of $1,000 to rappel and in return will receive an official Over the Edge souvenir, a photo of their rappel, eligibility for great prizes including an iPad for those that raise over $3,000, as well as the gratification of taking on a once-in-a-life-time experience to support a great cause. Adding a fun competition element and additional incentive, special prize categories include Top Fundraiser, Extreme Edgers in Education and Top Corporate Team. Special Olympics makes it fun and easy to register and raise funds online at www.somo.org/edge.

In addition to being the host hotel for Over the Edge for the second year in a row, Hyatt Regency St. Louis is actively involved in supporting the cause, sending a team of staff members down the wall in addition to offering both internal and guest promotions for those who come out and show their support. The hotel’s restaurants, Red Kitchen and Brewhouse Historical Sports Bar, will have special menu items and discounts for the occasion, including a prize wheel at Brewhouse which guests can spin to get a variety of different offerings. The onsite Ruth’s Chris Steak House will host an Over the Edge St. Louis Kickoff Wine Tasting and Silent Auction at October 2 and on the day of the event, there will be food trucks parked outside the hotel with culinary treats and beverages available for onlookers to purchase. People will also have the opportunity to buy $5 raffle tickets, with all proceeds going towards SOMO, for the chance to win a 2015 Black Chevy Silverado. Raffle tickets can also be bought online at http://somo.org/raffle through October 30.

“The event supports a great cause,” said General Manager Joe Hindsley. “We encourage our Hyatt colleagues, downtown business partners, and guests to support Special Olympics by donating to an edger or signing up to go Over the Edge yourself. Hyatt looks forward to hosting another successful Over the Edge event.”
